How to convert MP4 to AVI with Boxoft Free MP4 to AVI Converter

Download & install
- Download from Boxoft’s product page or a trusted software site (Windows only). Run the installer and follow prompts.

Launch and choose mode
- Open the app and select Batch Mode (manual list) or Hot Directory Mode (auto-convert files placed into a watched folder).

Add files or folders
- In Batch Mode click Add File or drag & drop MP4 files. In Hot Directory Mode set the input folder to monitor.

Select output format & profile
- Choose AVI as output. Pick a preset profile or click to customize video codec, frame size, frame rate, bitrate and audio codec, sample rate, channels, bitrate.

Set output folder & logs
- Choose where converted files are saved and (optionally) a log file location.

Start conversion
- Click Convert (or Start) to begin. Monitor progress in the log pane.

Verify files
- Open the output AVI files in a media player to confirm video/audio quality and compatibility.
Troubleshooting tips
- If playback fails, try changing the AVI video codec (e.g., Xvid, DivX) or increase bitrate.
